Who grants damages for the damages caused shall be established as follows:

• if the person guilty of producing the accident is resident in the country where the insured case took place, the damage will be compensated by the insurance company to which the person responsible for the accident is insured;
• if the person guilty of producing the accident is not resident in the country where the insured case took place, the damage will be compensated through the National Bureau of Insurers of the means of transport of the country in which the insured case took place.

Payment of the damage is made according to the rules of the country where the accident took place.

In case of road accident abroad, product from your fault:

• do not leave the accident site and take all possible actions to reduce the damage caused;
• immediately notify the police organs, closest to the place of the accident, requesting the drafting of documents regarding the causes and circumstances of the accident and the damage caused, or if the legislation of the country allows, draw up an amicable accident finding form;
• Important! if the documents referring to the insured case are drawn up in an unknown language, indicate the note: "I do not understand the language";
• submit sheet II "Duplicate" of the Green Card insurance certificate to the police or to the injured person;
• If the accident in question is not the first accident with the participation of the Insured and the policy duplicate is already extracted, it is necessary to make the photocopy of the "Original" and send it to the injured party or in the document confirming the production of the insured case to indicate the data in the Green Paper. The 1st row of the "Original" policy remains permanently with the Insured;
• announce the National Insurance Office, in the respective country, about the accident occurrence (the addresses of the National Offices are placed on the verso of the Green Card certificate);
• notify the insurer that issued the Green Card insurance certificate for the road accident and its circumstances for 48 hours;
• do not take damage repair measures yourself.

If you are the injured person, contact the person responsible for the insurance company in the country or the compensation representative of that company in the country where you are.

How to proceed if you are involved in a road accident on the territory of the Republic of Moldova, due to a driver driving a vehicle registered in a foreign country of which the National Office is a member of the Green Card System.

In the event of an accident caused by a driver who was driving a vehicle registered abroad, it is necessary to conclude the report by the police.

If the culprit has a Green policy, a copy of the Green Card insurance document of the vehicle from abroad must be obtained. The person injured after the accident will address the National Bureau of Motor Insurers of the Republic of Moldova, presenting copies of the certified documents from the Police and the copy of the Green Card insurance policy.

If the culprit has a RCA policy, a copy of the car insurance document must be obtained from abroad. The person injured after the accident, will address the insurance company that issued the policy, presenting the copies of the certified documents from the Police and the copy of the RCA insurance policy.

After any kind of accident, remember to note:

• the date and place of the event;
• identification data:
• the name and contact details of the other driver;
• make and type of the other vehicle;
• the names and contact details of any witnesses;
• the data of the police station where the accident was recorded;
• the details of the other driver's insurance policy.
